Gillian Gould
Dr Gillian Gould is a practicing GP, a tobacco treatment specialist, and GP Member at Large for the Australian Association of Smoking Cessation Professionals (AASCP) 2012-2016. She is chair of an AASCP subcommittee exploring better access for oral NRT for pregnant smokers. She runs a Quit Clinic in Coffs Harbour, NSW. She has 12 years experience in cessation and is finishing a Ph.D. on how to develop salient anti-tobacco messages for Indigenous smokers. She has been actively engaged with her local Indigenous community since 2005: achievements include the research and development of initiatives for smoking cessation, such as the Blow Away the Smokes DVD for Indigenous smoking cessation. She was medical director of the ‘No Smokes North Coast’ Indigenous Tobacco Control Initiative from 2010-12. From 2015 Gillian will take up an NHMRC Research Fellowship focusing on cessation strategies for pregnant Indigenous smokers.
