Peter Vedsted

Peter Vedsted is professor of general practice at The Research Unit for General Practice, Aarhus University, Denmark. He is the director of a research group for primary cancer diagnosis investigating the pathway from symptom to treatment of cancer. The group investigates cancer awareness and how symptoms are understood and acted upon in the public, and conducts clinical studies specifically on the role of family medicine in cancer diagnosis. The centre has special focus on health services research and the organisation of health care and general practice. The group is very active in international collaborative studies. Peter Vedsted is involved in many of the Danish initiatives to improve cancer diagnosis and prognosis and is deeply engaged in how general practice can develop and be supported in providing earlier cancer diagnosis.
