Sarah Penman
Sarah Penman is the National Manager of the Pro Bono Programs at Cancer Council NSW.
Sarah joined Cancer Council NSW in 2011 to assist with the delivery of free legal and financial planning assistance to people affected by cancer in NSW through the Pro Bono Programs.
Since then, Sarah has overseen the progressive roll out of the Pro Bono Programs nationally. The service is now available in each state and territory across Australia. Over 8,000 families impacted by cancer have received $9.65 million of free professional assistance since the Pro Bono Programs first started.
Before joining Cancer Council NSW, Sarah trained as a lawyer and started her career at commercial firm, Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now known as King & Wood Mallesons), where she was heavily involved in pro bono work. She has also worked as a solicitor at a children’s legal service, Central Land Council in Alice Springs, and a human rights NGO in India.
