Heather O'Donnell
Heather O’Donnell is the HPV Vaccine Program Coordinator at the Cancer Council Victoria. Undertaking a Department of Health funded project, Heather’s role specifically focused upon improving HPV immunisation coverage of Year 7 Victorian schoolgirls. Filling the HPV immunisation information void for parents and students was a secondary project deliverable. The recent extension of the HPV immunisation program to include males, and the commencement of a project to improve awareness and uptake of funded vaccines by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adolescents, has seen her role broaden its focus throughout the past year.
Prior to this project, Heather worked within state and local governments, involved in infectious disease investigations, outbreak and emergency management, and environmental health.
Heather’s interests include disease prevention, emergency management and knowledge management.
