I am a registered nurse and research student at the Sydney Nursing School. I am interested in how having cancer affects young cancer patients’ developmental transition to adulthood, and leads to long term psychosocial effects. I am also interested in online-based supportive care for this patient group. My current research focuses on the nature of communication between emerging adult cancer patients and nurses in adult care settings where age-sensitive care is known to be lacking. In collaboration with CanTeen Australia, this research will help to develop educational materials to assist nurses in improving their communication skills with this patient group
