Christopher Steer

Dr Steer is a medical oncologist working at Border Medical Oncology in Albury Wodonga in regional Australia. Christopher is a conjoint senior lecturer at the UNSW rural clinical school and an honorary associate at the University of Sydney School of Public Health. He completed his oncology training as part of the Victorian Medical Oncology Training programme in Melbourne and then worked as a clinical research fellow at Guy’s Hospital in London. Christopher is the chair of the geriatric oncology interest group of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA). He is proud to be the chair of the National Representatives and Membership Committee of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) and also serves on the board. He is an editorial board member of the Journal of Geriatric Oncology. Christopher is on the executive of the Medical Oncology Group of Australia and is currently the honorary treasurer. He is also the lead clinician for Gynaecological Oncology in the East Hume RICS. Christopher is a principle investigator at the Border Medical Oncology research unit (BMORU) for national and international clinical trials. The BMORU has been recognized for health services research with a focus on innovative, multidisciplinary health care delivery to a rural/regional population. He has led a pilot project of supportive care in older adults with cancer with funding from Cancer Australia.
