Eduardo Cazap MD, PhD is the founder and first President of the Latin American & Caribbean Society of Medical Oncology (SLACOM) and in 2008 was elected by the General Assembly of the International Union against Cancer (UICC-Geneva) as President for the 2010-2012 period. Board Member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO-Alexandria), representing the international members during the term 2009- 2012. In September 2010 was designated by the Argentinean government member of the Executive Board of the newly created National Cancer Institute of Argentina (INC) As well as having published over 170 papers, his main areas of research and interest are: global health, cancer control and prevention, breast and cervical cancer, independent clinical research. Dr. Cazap also serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Breast Health Global Initiative (BHGI) which is co-sponsored by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Susan G. Komen for the CureĀ®. Elected as President of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) World Cancer Congress held in Montreal, Canada, in August 2012. Dr Cazap also served as C o-chair of the Civil Society Taskforce to advise the President of the United Nations General Assembly, during the 2011 United Nations High-Level Meeting on Noncommunicable Diseases. He is also the Chairman of the International Clinical Trials Working Group (ICTWG) of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) In 2011 was appointed as Chairman of the Scientific Council of the International School of Senology, Senologic International Society (SIS), Strasbourg, France as well as Expert of the World Oncology Forum (WOF) of the European School of Oncology (ESO); Lugano, Switzerland. His most recent designation is as Deputy Chair of the Developing Countries Task Force of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). Member of the Working Group to Facilitate International Cooperation in Non-Commercial Clinical Trials, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)-Global Science Forum. Co-chairman of the Working Group on Cancer. European Union- Latin America Health Project(EU-LAC Health Project). Dr Cazap received in 2013 the Distinguished Achievement Award of the Conquer Cancer Foundation (USA) and bestowed as Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (FASCO).
